Building the Confidence to Quit
“I’m celebrating my first anniversary since quitting. When I called the quitline, I was already using a combination of nicotine replacement therapies but needed more support. My coaches taught me that smoking is an addiction, but even more important, that I could make the choice to change. The quitline coaches helped me re-focus on the behaviors and habits I knew I needed to change. They also helped me pinpoint stress as a hurdle to staying quit, and reinforced my confidence to remain strong and develop other coping skills. This gave me the encouragement I needed to work through this, and other challenges to quitting. I believe the quitline saved my life. Now I have so much more confidence in all areas of my life. I joined the Silver Sneakers program at my gym and I’m more physically active. I’m committed to my healthier life, and look forward to more success.”
